FTL or LTL, and what else the form asks
The first question is whether you are buying a whole truck or a share of one. FTL is a vehicle dedicated to your consignment — one loading, one route, no intermediate handling. LTL consolidates your cargo with other shippers’, which is cheaper on part loads but routes through hubs, so it takes longer and is handled more.

- FTL is a full truckload: the vehicle is yours, it loads at your dock and drives to the delivery address without picking anything else up. LTL is less than a truckload, consolidated with other consignments and routed through hubs.
